This rich and savory wine is quintessential Hallberg. Aromas of freshly picked huckleberries, wild mushrooms, cedar and just a hint of eucalyptus mingle harmoniously in the glass. On the palate, this wine is expressive, yet refined and follows the aromatics with deep, rich, earthy flavors of blackberry compote, bay leaves, cardamom and baking spices. The texture is silky and elegant, yet powerful, with a strong and mouthwatering backbone of acidity that is complemented by mouth-coating tannins. The flavors and texture linger on the palate long after the wine itself is gone.

Wine EnthusiastThis floral wine opens as if in a damp but not wet forest, surrounded by ripe, red cherry trees. Likable from the start, it's grippy on the palate, expressively juicy, seductive and refined. Blackberry and dried herb pop on the finish, providing a darker side to the red fruit.

Wine AdvocateThose looking for complex Burgundian-style Pinot Noirs need look no further than Farrell's 2013 Pinot Noir Hallberg Vineyard. This wine displays notes of roasted herbs, underbrush, red and black cherries and forest floor in a decidedly Côte de Nuits-like style. It is medium-bodied, refreshing, supple and delicious. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.

Wine SpectatorJuicy plum and raspberry are at the core of this taut, trim effort. The fruit provides enough generosity, and the acidity and tannins create an appropriate structure. Drink now through 2019. 1,290 cases made.
