Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna Manapetra opens to a soothing dark color and a velvety appearance. The bouquet is anchored by ripe fruit aromas of raspberry preserves and blackberry jelly. Vigna Manapetra has definitely absorbed the scorching heat of August 2011. That said, the mouthfeel is soft and round with plush layering and good momentum. This is an immediate wine that will appeal to those who don't want to wait to drink the new Brunellos.

Wine EnthusiastAromas of baked plum, vanilla, menthol and star anise lead the nose. The ripe, robust palate offers fig, raisin, licorice, dried mint and tobacco alongside solid tannins. Give the tannins a few more years to soften up then drink to capture the remaining fruit richness.
