Wine EnthusiastAromas of blue flower, rose and wild berry waft from the glass. The palate is a bit funky but savory, offering crunchy red berry, black raspberry, game, meat juice, clove and grilled herb. It's still young, with bracing tannins.
Wine AdvocateMauro Pacini's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a dark, brooding wine with defined muscle and a masculine personality. It opens to a blackish-garnet color and deep concentration. The bouquet was not very expressive at the time of tasting and seemed shut down. You get dark cherry syrup, ash, licorice, grilled herb and root beer. It ages for 30 months in large oak casks. What does set this wine apart, however, is the high caliber of acidic freshness that makes the mouthfeel feel so alive. There's a lot more energy in the mouth, compared to the nose.
